2012.

Here is the entrance to my little happy place, Coco's Closet. Above are some photos of the groovy gear I stock. I love this place, it's where I colour and coffee and sometimes stitch and draw and get to met lots, no stacks, no tons and tons of totally ACE people and I have been here behind this red door for two years and six months now...... thanks to you all for walking through the red door and here's to the rest of 2012 and beyond.....much happiness I wish to you and yours.

Wow, has it been that long?

long time between posts over here, I am trying to be a little more diligent a few things this year... better add this blog to my list, huh. If you didn't now already I do blog quite regularly over here so you can keep fairly well up to date with whats going on at Coco's.
The above scrabble board is in my new window at the moment, I like just putting words on the board....and I really, really do wish you happy days and smiles....
I also have about 40 or 50 paper cranes in the window, I love paper cranes.....I love the story of Sadako and the thousand paper cranes, I read it to my children last year, it is a beautiful but sad story and I relayed it to a lovely customer this week who had never heard the story.... it gives me goose bumps..... I love the way stories can have such impact on our lives.... do you know the story? Japanese legend says that if you fold 1,000 paper cranes you will have 1 wish.... What would yours be?

Recently I found letters from 24 years ago that I received from my Japanese pen pal, beautiful papers, foldings and stamps, air mail..... I was explaining to my children how I used to write to a young Japanese girl, I wonder if she still has my letters? Her letters have a return address, I wonder if her family still live there?

Whilst I write this, in a bizarre twist a earthquake has rocked Japan..... My prayers go to those in turmoil, my heart goes out to those suffering or trying to contact loved ones, please be safe.... xxx

Art Bazaar... Will you be there?

Coco's Closet is very excited to be a stall holder at the Art Bazaar inCivic Park, Newcastle this December 4 from 9am til 3pm. I think it's going to be ACE!! You should really come if you're around and get some homemade goodness for Christmas.

I can't believe Coco's Closet AKA my happy place is over 12 months old. 14 months to be exact. It's lovely to be bricks and mortar, and well the space, it is kinda like coming home, I've come full circle. Almost 10 years ago the space that houses Coco's Closet was Rourke and Henry, a boy and his bear, my first fledgling store with my mum named after my son and his trusty bear. It's interesting now to have some of the same customers that we had then, almost like extended family. Rourke was six months old when we opened here in shop 1/64 Wharf St, Forster....it was home to all things funky, stylish and groovy...... we grew and moved on, developed new ranges, ideas and the space has had a few occupants in the last few years but just over 14 months ago when it was empty and Miss Muffet was getting ready to jump into big school I decided it was time to return home to my favourite little space. The signature red door of Rourke and Henry had remained the same.... so Mackenzie and I took to the space...paint brushes in hand - pink of course, hot pink, white and still the red door and transformed the old, into our new love. Coco's Closet..... indie crafts and recycled wares, handmade gifts and beautiful, interesting and loved.

It's a funny little place to live... plus we have lollies and we love lollies.....we love to chat too, so feel free to pop your head in, we love chatting oh and colouring , thats my bestest thing to do.
